Global CRLI

October 20–29, 2025 | Virtual

The Global Clinical Research Learning Institute (CRLI) is an online learning program for people affected by ALS/MND who want to better understand research and take part in advocacy. It’s designed to empower participants to read, discuss, and share scientific information, ultimately helping shape the future of ALS/MND research.

2025 Applications

This is the first time the Alliance is offering this virtual program. Whether you’re living with ALS/MND, a caregiver, or have a family connection to the disease, we invite you to apply.

The application period for 2025 is now closed. Thank you to all those who applied.

About the Program

The Global CRLI is a virtual program for people impacted by ALS/MND worldwide who want to expand their understanding of ALS/MND research and engage more deeply in advocacy and research initiatives. It is modelled on the successful NEALS CRLI, which also served as an inspiration for national initiatives in Canada and Australia.

The program includes:

  •  Sessions led by an international faculty of clinicians and researchers on ALS/MND research and clinical trials

  • Group discussions and peer learning

  • Training on how to read and talk about scientific papers

  • Conversations about research ethics, informed consent, and how to advocate for better research

See the Global CRLI Preliminary Program.

Program Details

  • When: October 20–29, 2025

  • Where: Online via Zoom

  • Time: Sessions are mostly held in the morning (Eastern Time), with some evening sessions. You’ll also get recordings if you can’t attend live.

  • Language: English ( (Translation captions may be offered, depending on demand.)

Who Should Apply?

When people affected by ALS/MND are included in research conversations, it leads to better understanding, stronger advocacy, and more meaningful research. You are invited to apply if you have a personal connection to ALS/MND.

To participate, you need a device with internet and a webcam, have time to attend most sessions live or watch recordings, and a willingness to learn and contribute to discussions.

Each applicant must submit a separate application. (Note: Caregivers do not need to submit a separate form if the person living with ALS/MND who they support is applying.)

If you’re selected to join the Global CRLI, we ask that you review program materials and come prepared to each session, share what you learn with your community, and embrace your role as a Global ALS/MND Research Ambassador once the program is complete.

Thank You to Our Supporters
