Every year, the International Alliance of ALS/MND Associations celebrates June 21 as the global day of recognition of ALS/MND – a disease that affects people in every country worldwide.
ALS/MND is a global problem. It does not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status or region. For every person diagnosed, the impact of the disease will be forever felt by their loved ones.
On Global Day, Alliance members across the world use the hashtag #ALSMNDWithoutBorders to raise awareness and funds.
Why June 21?
June 21 marks the solstice – a turning point. Each year, the ALS/MND community undertakes various activities on this day, symbolizing hope for a breakthrough in the search for the cause, treatment and cure.
Spread Awareness, Spread Hope
This year, we’re uniting through creativity with the launch of the ALS/MND Calendar. This global initiative invites our member community to submit artwork and photographs that embody our shared commitment to ending ALS/MND. We’ll create 2026 wall and desktop calendars, as well as an agenda, to showcase selected images, raising awareness and funds to support individuals with lived experience in participating in events.
How to Get Involved:
-
April 16 to May 20: Our member associations will look to their local communities to create images that showcase one of the following slogans (in any language) and reflect their corner of the world:
-
End ALS/MND
-
A World Free of ALS/MND
-
Stronger Together 4 ALS/MND
-
-
May 21 to June 17: Everyone can participate in the public online voting to select the images that will be featured in the calendar.
-
June 21: Watch for our Global Day announcement to find out the winning images! We’ll also open pre-orders of the wall and desktop calendars, and agendas. All proceeds will fund opportunities for people with lived experience to engage in ALS/MND events.
Throughout June, you can also get involved in your local association’s activities. Global Day is an event without boundaries. Whether through this international calendar project or at your local level, everyone can contribute to raising awareness of ALS/MND.
With your support, we can advance care, treatment and research for the hundreds of thousands of people affected by this disease around the world.
